Following the success of last years meet, Kadettfest 2017 will again be meeting up in the old military barracks car park in Ballina, Co. Mayo. We will be gathering from 10am and as cars arrive voting forms will once again be handed out to give drivers their chance to choose their favourite Kadett and also give their approval for best Opel in attendance. Even though we call the meet Kadettfest, it is open to all and any Opel or Vauxhall, regardless of age. The military barracks car park is a fantastic spot for the meet and it is a great opportunity for a bit of banter with other enthusiasts and to take in the cars in attendance.

In a slight change from last year we will be having lunch in The Bar Square which is adjacent to the car park. After lunch the driver’s choices of Best Kadett and Overall Drivers choice will be announced. With the formalities out of the way we will be then going out on a run, taking in some of the best scenery Mayo has to offer. For the last number of years we have taken in a route along the North Mayo coastline. This year I am looking into a route exploring southern parts of the county. More details will be available closer to the event. So if you are interested in coming along just for a look or are itching for a chance to take your Opel / Vauxhall out for a spin, you will find lots of like minded people in Ballina on April 9th.

Thanks to all that made the trip to Ballina. Great turn out and very high standard of cars in attendance. The voting this year was the closest ever with both winners having tied first choice votes. John Unkles outstanding Manta A was declared overall winner when second choice votes put him ahead of David Kearns stunning Kadett C. Best Kadett was even closer. John Horans immaculate Kadett D GTE and David Kearns Kadett C had same votes after first and second preferences with no third places for either. The higher placing for David's machine in overall vote was only thing to separate them. Thanks to all for voting and congrats to deserving winners.
